About CollabVillage

In 2004, Co-Founder Allan Mercado took a break from his software engineering career to study Recording Arts at The Art Institutes. During his two years at Ai, Allan learned the ins and outs of the games and entertainment industries, including working with game audio, tv and film post-production, sound design and music production. In 2006, upon leaving Ai he formed friendships with many amazing and wonderfully talented people beginning their careers in this exciting fast paced industry -- however, so many of them couldn't find work!  This didn't sit well with Allan and he hoped to do something about it one day.

Fast forward five years, and Allan is back to his software gig, but still pining to do something with sound and with the entertainment industry. Determined to help others that were in his plight a few years ago, Allan teamed up with Victor Yih - a lifelong entrepreneur and good friend - and started to scheme and concoct what would become CollabVillage.com

So what exactly is CollabVillage? CollabVillage is a community of talented professionals - some well known, some not so well known. The idea is to create a community, or "Village" of talented people that want to share their talents. We tried to make it as easy as possible for all to come and join the community, and share your own story - your portfolio of work that you have toiled over and worked so hard to build. We wanted to create a platform where you can easily share your DVD reel.  To showcase your portfolio to your collegues or future employers.  Attach your YouTube or Vimeo video portfolio or SoundCloud sound sample to your resume and start collaborating and impressing future employers/collaborators today.
